The Job is for You – V-1

You have always lived life a little on the edge. You are definitely a non-conformist.   When it comes to seeking employment opportunities, you can’t imagine anything worse than getting stuck behind a desk and answering the phone all day.  You need a job that meshes with your personality. You need something that may seem very strange and a whole lot weird to the majority of people on this planet. You need a job that allows you to do something a little different with your day.

Whistle while you Work

If you work in an office, your coworkers would probably get out the duct tape, if you whistled while on the job, assuming the boss hadn’t already called you into the office.  If you work outside or in a big open space, you might get away with it.  But, it certainly wouldn’t help increase your job opportunity, unless you were paid to be a professional whistler.  Yes, there is a man that gets paid to warble his way through life.

Weird Writer

Naturally, after reading about all of these weird and unique professions, you are probably wondering where you can find all of these unique individuals and see how they got into their strange position.

Well, they might have read the work of an odd job journalist.  Someone has to go and investigate these jobs, in order to make sure they are legitimate sources of income and not just someone’s lame attempt at ten minutes worth of fame.

Of course, this job would not be for just anyone.  You would have to be willing to travel a lot.  Also, as part of your journalistic endeavors, you would likely find yourself in some very weird and often dirty places, in order to get the scoop.

English Please

The last time you purchased something that had to be put together, did you happen to pay close attention to the instruction booklet?  You may have noticed that the instructions have been written in several different languages. Because societies have become so mobile, there is now a big melting pot of people that may not speak English as their first language.

Unique World Records-2

Happy Halloween

For some people, Halloween is a favorite holiday.  It’s fun to get dressed up and pretend to be someone or something else for a couple of hours.  Kids love trick-o-treating, and others love the opportunity to throw a harvest party.

But, what is a Halloween party without Jack-o-Lanterns to add to the holiday spirit.  But, if you have ever carved a pumpkin, you know what a challenge it can be.  First, you have to take out the seeds and other goop in the middle.  Then, it takes a bit of sawing to cut through the thick exterior.

So, you should be able to appreciate the world record holder for the fastest pumpkin carver on record.  Stephen Clarke, of Orlando Florida, achieved the feat in 24.03 seconds.  Can you beat that, without doing yourself bodily harm, of course?

Favorite Foods

How much of your favorite food can you consume in one day, every day?  Of course, you will not make it into the world record books, if you eat until you are sick to your stomach, or if your stomach were to collapse under the weight of your edibles onslaught.

So, how does a man make it in the record books after eating at least two pounds of metal every day, for the last 50 years?  If that wasn’t strange enough, glass is for dessert.  No, not a glass filled with ice cream.  He eats the glass itself.

Metal is definitely not on the diet of the average person, let alone a favorite food.  Now, if you are talking pizza that is a different story.  In fact, there are many teenagers that would eat it several times a week, if given the chance.

For families with a teenage boy in the house, at least half a large pizza is consumed in a matter of minutes.  You might question whether he even had time to taste the pie.  But, did you know that the world record for consuming an entire pizza is one minute and forty-five seconds? In March 2008, a New Zealander named Josh set the record. Question:  How long after this feat was accomplished did he actually enjoy a pizza; or, does he have a new favorite food?

Are you Superstitious – Part II-2

The world is full of good and bad, both seen and unseen. Most of us just go through life hoping for the good, and doing the best we can to make it through the bad.  But, for the superstitious soul, they believe that human beings make their own luck.  It depends on their actions, whether they are purposeful or accidental. Here is a continuation of the list of top 20 superstitions:

9.  Make a Wish

If a draft from an open door causes your candle to flicker and go out, you better have had a chance to make a wish.  Supposedly, you are in store for some bad luck that will be coming your way, because an evil spirit is near.

10.  Do you have a Light?

It seems that some people believe that it is bad luck to light three cigarettes with the same match.  What do they expect to happen?  Oh yah!  Three people are just setting themselves up for diseases like emphysema and cancer.  I guess that is really bad luck.

11.  Chalk Please

Have you ever wondered why a person will draw a chalk circle around themselves in vampire movies?  It seems that there is a very real superstition that evil spirits cannot harm you, if you are standing in a circle.  Why not just build a round house?

12.  Lucky Coin

How many times have you looked down at the pavement, in front of a supermarket or quick shop and found a coin.  Boy!  It’s your lucky day!  Or, is it?  According to superstition, you shouldn’t pick up the ones that are tails side up.  Why not?  They all spend the same.

13.  Jiminy Cricket

Supposedly, if you have a cricket in your house, it means good luck.  However, what’s lucky about not being able to sleep, because they are chirping in your house, in the middle of the night?

14.  Dry Skin Alert

If the palm of your left hand is itchy, you are going to be paying out some money; conversely, if your right hand itches, you are about to come into some money.  But, realistically, it probably means you have been neglecting your dry skin and need some hand lotion.
